I feel like learning self love and self care is something so important and so difficult, especially for women and any oppressed people in general, so you have a noble mission!! I'd love to see you explore these ideas more, maybe through other photo series or media. I think he creates nostalgia where there wasn't any before, simply with the emotional tone of his paintings, which is what makes them different from the photos he uses for reference. But all those layers of perception are so enticing to me, they're all so prominent that it feels like he's just boosting the realness to 300% rather than making something less real. However, I kind of felt like that activity or energy put into the output of his work is sorely lacking compared to his input because of how controlled and repetitive they looked. The patterns he creates are certainly appealing to look at, but wouldn't it have been more compelling if he'd break out of that repetition and do something other than said patterns?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07251980902593869114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-82688648603129526.post-14357886733901723532016-01-20T15:37:04.479-08:002016-01-20T15:37:04.479-08:00Ooh, interesting... He might be making something very similar to another piece but because of the situation of the performance itself, it becomes a wholly unique, self-contained piece of art. I think it captures some of the "experience" of Miriam's work: raw thoughts and emotions, chaos and feeling, and the struggle of translating that into a visual format. I also like your encouragement to not be afraid of these feelings and what Miriam's presenting us with. I think we owe it to her talent as an artist to be brave and try to acknowledge some of that raw emotion she puts into her work.Liam Guinanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12230697839681094714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-82688648603129526.post-9471055536618512442015-10-12T22:07:34.009-07:002015-10-12T22:07:34.009-07:00I really still enjoy the way that you format your ...I really still enjoy the way that you format your blog. The post almost expresses the chaos of thought, how you want to get everything out there all at once but you must decide what is the right thing to say. I am also very impressed by the amount of quotes that you found that all describe what I found to be the main thoughts or ideas throughout the film. Beermans work is very powerful and I think able to break people down especially if you are alone with it. The way that it cuts out in the end is very cool as well. The intimate shots of water are off putting and simultaneously calming, it is quite interesting how relaxing this destructive thought is.
